lyrics
Silent nameless animal
Blinded by the white light of solace
Staring from the custody of passivity
Another morning so vividly burning
With the shame and torment of complicity
The compulsion to pluck a flower, to become kindling, to feed the flame. The spectators warm their hands
Finding comfort in the glow
What a joy it is to see
Without any need to know
Watching from on high
Their prehistoric stilts
Beneath discolored skies
So proud of what they’ve built
A distorted view
Of home and hearth
A million acres
Of crooked and riddled earth
Voiceless and incandescent
Born into burning ancestral torment
The compulsion to be the flower, to be the kindling, to bare the flame
I wring my hands
And lick my shallow wounds
Stilts splinter, the wind creaks
Desolation
and charred meat
We all have the same smoke in our lungs
Every ecosystem is a hill to die on
Every ecosystem, a hill I’d gladly die on
never been a big death metal fan but this is actually super accessible for the genre, has fun concepts, and personally i'm always a fan of albums with short tracklists and huge runtimes (for individual songs) Great time, good jumping on point for newbies too. alienasu
I love the light and shade between Bryan's dirty and Emma's forlorn vocals. There are so many layers to this recording that are driven home through contrast. Plus the riffs are brilliant and get me moving. I can't stop listening to Thou and Emma in general lately. spaceman2250
