John Yautja is the most exciting band in heavy music. They pull it off live, too. Favorite track: Tar and Blindness.

Chris Krupa Yautja is unsettling. Overturning most songwriting conventions and frequently rejecting anything like "tempo" as the organizing principle of a song means there's rarely firm ground to stand on & get comfortable. When they do provide this--as in Tar and Blindness--it all falls apart anyway. The songs are in a state of constant deconstruction, tense and folding in on themselves, mixing brutal technical precision with the sense of everything being just on the brink of total collapse.

codedwire Yautja is one of the few bands where I'll buy anything they put out without listening to it first. I've never been disappointed. They are that good. Oh, and the "Audiotree Live" set is excellent (no surprise).

James Greene Every other fucking song on this album is an absolute monster. Each riff unpretentiously smacks you in the fucking face. Seriously unique stuff, with a definite Aaron turner influence. a hidden gem in a sea of shitty metal.

-Processed feels like your crawling out of a catatonic episode. Favorite track: Processed.

about

Yautja is a metal band who incorporate elements of grindcore, sludge, and doom to form a fresh sound dubbed "thunder punk". Three vocalists take turns tearing through morose lyrical content over savage tones, pummeling drums and mercilessly complex riffs. It's a fresh, unique sonic experience that'll make you feel primal, energized and painfully aware of humanity's capacity for destruction.
